Although his next project, The Robert Guillaume Show, lasted only one season in 1989, it has maintained a favorable rating on the Internet Movie Database, a testament to its long-term appeal.

Following The Robert Guillaume Show, the veteran actor continued to appear in episodes of popular TV series such as A Different World, Saved by the Bell, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Guillaume was nominated for three Golden Globes throughout his career. He passed away on October 24, 2017 at 89 years old.
