Dean Zanetos is a Southern California director, screenwriter, and producer who has had significant roles in producing shows such as Battlestar Galactica and Fitz & Bones. Dean Zanetos also produced the feature motion picture release Misfits of Science. An NBC Movie of the Week, Misfits of Science also served as the pilot for a series that introduced Courtney Cox.
The series’ first installment, Deep Freeze, features Dr. Billy Hayes, a shorts-wearing scientist at Humanidyne, a think tank with government ties and a mandate to help the human condition. Dr. Hayes is researching those with genetic anomalies, including Johnny, who has the ability to absorb electricity and redirect it outward through his hands. Played by Courtney Cox, Gloria is a telekinetic teen who has not fully learned to harness her out-of-control powers.
Similar to X-Men, Misfits of Science had a central premise that it is important to embrace who one really is, even if it is not the norm in society. Through banding together, the characters overcome insecurities and gain knowledge of how to unite for the betterment of society.
